  2. Why Rummble?

    Rummble Trust Algorithm

Trust Algorithm - Academics at the forefront of a new type of probability logic called of subjective logic have helped build unique algorithms to create and analyse trust networks, which infers levels of trust directly or indirectly with other people, regardless of whether they are in your social network, resulting in personalised ratings and better contextual relevance.

Real-time - Rummble supplements historical ratings and reviews with tweets matched to specific venues. This makes the Rummble the definitive API to get the real-time buzz on venues.

    Rummble for Twitter

Field Tested - Rummble for iPhone, Android, Windows Phone and Vodafone 360 were all developed using the Rummble API. Rummble is proud to work in partnership with Sun Microsystems to improve service delivery and scalability.

It's Free - The Rummble API is freely available for both commercial and non-commercial projects; to create completely separate niche applications or enrich the Rummble experience.

  3. What is Rummble?

    What Is Rummble?

Rummble’s mission is to make it as easy as possible for you to find stuff nearby you like.

Rummble is a consumer service and platform that not only includes popular bars, restaurants and theatres, but also focuses upon the long tail of points of interest – the useful nuggets of info about the physical world we all have in our heads - i.e. the best picnic site, dog walk, kite surfing beach, city vista...

As users interact with the service to share & discover content, Rummble understands the context of their search including real-time data from Twitter and other sources. We have combined the technologies of local search and social discovery into one service to provide personalised recommendations, and location activity stream for friends -complimented with an evolving social gaming platform called Empire that awards medals (which can be won and lost!) to "Local Heros" based upon their reputation rank for thousands of areas around the world.

  4. Examples

There are many creative ways to utilise the Rummble API to juggle location based content within your application. Here are a selection of ideas about how you can use the Rummble API, but we're sure you have plenty more!

    1. Connect all of part of Rummble to another platform or user interface.
    2. Focus and extend any niche Rummble content - i.e. museum finder, city cocktail guide...
    3. Create the next hit social location-based game - i.e. capture the flag, treasure hunt, virtual tag...
    4. Augmented reality view of real-time concert hall activity in your neighbourhood.

The Rummble API powers the search, community and personalised ratings on the Total Hotspots website and iPhone app, helping hundreds of thousands of people find wi-fi hotspots that suit them around the world. Large traffic spikes include a feature on The Gadget Show on Channel 4, cause the app to rise up to #4 in the UK app store charts for utilities.

  5. What is Mashery?

    Mashery

Mashery provide API infrastructure and management services that sit between the API service and developer, handling common API features including managing API keys, reporting and rate limiting.

Mashery isn't an off-the-shelf API. Rummble wants to focus 100% upon delivering a world-class real-time social discovery API. It's more cost effective and saves time to offload some aspects of API infrastructure to a dedicated API service provider.

Rummble's secure servers are the only place that all service data is stored.
